Frequently asked questions
What separates you from others in the Industry?
My focus is always on the you. I'm really interested and invested in knowing what it is you truly want, even if you don't know yet yourself. Everyone inherently knows what they want, they just don't know what that looks like or how to get there. They may be afraid of making a mistake and wasting money or not know who to go to for help. My ability to connect with you in an easy and friendly manner, present you with options that reflect your personal choices and help you understand the impact of those choices allows me to create a beautiful, unique and personalized space just for you.
I think as people we are like water. We generally follow the path of least resistance. If our environment isn't aligned with our daily activities and life goals we are probably not doing the things we want to do well, if at all. I help you put everything in place so you can do the things you want to do with ease and pleasure. I love design that supports the people and families involved. It's the participation of everyone that gives a space it's unique qualities. I make sure everyone is included and has a voice in a relaxed and comfortable way. A part of my job I really love is you having the feeling of being supported, inspired and in love with your home.
I like to take an organic approach to design which means I look at you and your home together. If a space is going to change it should work with both you and it's surroundings. Enduring and satisfying change should have value and meaning for you. By looking at your whole situation I make sure that happens. It doesn't mean everything has to go or change but a space does have to reflect who you are and work the way you need it to.
It's also important to keep an eye on the future. We are constantly evolving and needs change over time. I help you anticipate what your life may look like in time to create synergies so you benefit now and in your future.
As Aristotle said, "The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts."
What's your approach?
We spend time talking about your needs, wants, challenges and ideas. We discuss and create a budget that is right for you. We create picture boards where ideas are fully explored. We look at imagery, drawings and samples so you can make confident choices. Once we have a solid plan we craft your ideal space.
How long does this take?
Because my approach is focused on you it's dependent on your ability to come to a decision. While I make that as easy as possible for you some people are relatively quick and others need more time. Some people prefer to be closely involved with as many decisions as possible while others prefer a more hands off approach. It's up to you. The important thing to remember is that it's all about you.
Other aspects that affect the time it takes to complete a project are the availability of tradespeople (good people are very busy), lead times for ordering products, especially anything that is customised, and any surprise elements which may come to light once a project is underway. This can be especially true when you are making structural changes as you don't always know what you're getting into until walls, floors and ceilings get opened.
Can I talk with other clients you have worked with?
I'm happy to provide references for my work. I encourage you to get in touch and if possible go and see the actual work of previous clients before we work together.
Can I connect with your Resources?
Whenever I can I'm happy to make referals to the great people who make my projects possible.
Do you source locally?
I do try to source locally if the items and services required are available in the area. Many products and services are also available in the GTA as well as online.
Do you accomodate unique requests?
If I know how to do it, who can do it, where to get it or I can figure it out for you I will help you make it happen.
